Compact fans for desks, rooms and travel

A compact fan moves air to provide a directed breeze around the user. Unlike an air conditioner, it does not actively lower the temperature of the entire room. Its purpose is to circulate air near a desk, bed, chair or person on the move.

The VERK range includes fans that can stand on a desk, attach with a clip, be held in the hand or hang around the neck. Models differ in speed settings, power, construction and power source.

USB-C desk fan

A traditional desk fan can be positioned beside a computer, on a table or on a bedside unit. The available model has three blades, a protective metal grille, a stable base and 360° tilt adjustment.

It provides two airflow levels, has a rated power of 4 W and requires a 5 V/2 A power source through USB-C. It can be connected to a suitable USB port, charger or power bank. Its dimensions are 22 × 22 × 14.5 cm.

Tower fan with an LED light

A slim tower design uses little surface space on a desk or side table. The model in this category is 38 cm tall and has a base measuring 10 cm in diameter. It offers two airflow settings and uses a 90 cm USB power cable.

An integrated LED light provides two brightness levels and can act as a small supplementary light on a desk or bedside table. The fan has a rated power of 2.5 W.

Rechargeable clip-on fan

The clip-on model can stand on a flat surface or attach to the edge of a desk. Its clip opens to a maximum of 6 cm, so the intended mounting surface should be measured before ordering.

The fan offers three speed settings and rotates through 180°. Its built-in 800 mAh battery is charged using the supplied USB-C cable. It can also be used as a handheld fan. The complete unit is 32 cm tall, while the fan section has a diameter of 6.5 cm.

Wearable neck fan

The hanging model provides airflow while leaving the user’s hands free. An adjustable lanyard controls its position, while three power levels allow the airflow to be changed.

Its built-in battery has a capacity of 2000 mAh. The listed operating time is between 3 and 8 hours, depending on the selected setting. Indicator lights show when the fan is charging, operating and fully charged.

A fragrance insert is supplied. It should be used according to the instructions, and no additional substances should be added unless the manufacturer specifically permits them.

USB-powered or rechargeable fan?

A wired USB fan can operate while connected to a suitable power source. It is suited to a fixed workspace with access to a computer, charger or power bank.

A rechargeable fan offers more freedom of placement and can operate without a cable attached. It must, however, be recharged regularly. Check the battery capacity, charging connection and listed operating time before making a choice.

Two or three airflow settings?

Two speeds allow the user to switch between gentler and stronger airflow. Three settings provide an additional level of adjustment for changing conditions or different distances from the fan.

Speed count is only one consideration. Airflow direction, tilt adjustment and placement in relation to the user also affect everyday comfort.

Positioning a desk fan

Place the fan on a stable, level surface and leave clear space around its air inlet and outlet. Direct the airflow to provide comfort without keeping a strong stream continuously aimed at the face.

A clip-on model must be attached to a surface within the specified 6 cm opening. Confirm that the clip is secure and that the cable cannot come into contact with moving parts.
