What should you check before choosing a video intercom?

Start by checking the proposed cable route and the distance between the outdoor panel and indoor monitor. A wired system requires suitable access for cabling and power. For the Wi-Fi model, confirm the network and installation requirements listed in its instructions.

Other points to compare include:

• connection between the external panel and monitor,
• camera resolution and viewing angle,
• night-viewing capability,
• two-way voice communication,
• compatibility with the planned electric lock,

The category includes water-resistant PVC tapes in several sizes. Options include black 17 mm tape in 9 m and 18 m rolls, as well as 19 mm × 9 m tape offered in several colours.

Coloured tape can help identify individual wires, while black provides a neutral finish. Always check the specification of the selected roll and confirm its suitability for the installation and operating conditions.

Electrical tape should not be used as a substitute for a correctly made connection. The wire must first be joined and secured using a method suitable for the installation.

Cloth tape for cable harnesses

Cloth electrical tape is intended for wrapping, protecting and organising wires and cable bundles. Its textile structure follows the shape of the harness and helps keep loose cables together.

The current range includes black cloth tape in 15 mm × 15 m and 19 mm × 25 m sizes. It can be used for home, workshop, technical and automotive tasks. Choose the width and roll length according to the size of the cable bundle.

PVC tape, cloth tape or heat-shrink tubing?

Each product addresses a different need:

Motion alarms and entrance alerts

The range also includes two types of motion-activated device. The entrance alert produces a sound when a person enters its detection area. It can stand on a shelf or be mounted on a wall and requires three AA batteries, which are not included.

The second option is a 105 dB alarm operated with two remote controls. Its motion sensor has an approximate range of 8 m and a 110° detection angle. After arming, the user has 15 seconds to leave the area; following motion detection, the siren activates after approximately five seconds. The main unit requires four AA batteries, while AG13 batteries for the remotes are included.

These are simple standalone alerts and should not be presented as replacements for a complete, professionally designed alarm system.

Selecting electrical accessories safely
