Electric fly swatters and UV insect killers

Despite the category name, most products do not repel insects from a distance. Electric rackets work when a flying insect contacts the energised grid, while UV lamps are designed to draw certain insects towards an internal electric mesh.

The current selection includes rechargeable swatters, USB-powered UV lamps and multifunction devices. It does not include ultrasonic repellers or conventional skin-applied insect sprays.

Electric swatter or stationary UV lamp?

A UV insect killer operates in a fixed position. Its light is designed to attract insects towards the internal grid. Results depend on insect species, lamp placement, surrounding light and environmental conditions.

Selected rackets offer handheld and stationary operation. One verified model has two settings: a manual swatter mode and a UV mode for use while the racket is standing in its supplied base.

The device has a built-in rechargeable battery and USB charging. It is approximately 47 cm high with a 19 cm-wide head. The charging cable and stand are included.

Standing and hanging UV bug zappers

The range also contains a USB-powered unit combining humidification, LED lighting and liquid diffusion. A 45 ml bottle of product is included.

Read the liquid label before use and follow all instructions concerning room size, ventilation, children and pets. Do not substitute an unapproved chemical or essential oil unless the device instructions explicitly permit it.

USB charging or mains charging?

Many models operate from USB or use USB to recharge an internal battery. Check whether the package includes only a cable or also a mains adapter. A supplied USB lead does not automatically mean that a charger is included.
